Advising Appointments: 30-minute, Academic Advising meetings may be scheduled through the Navigate system. We offer both in person appointments in Isenberg room N230 and virtual appointments via Zoom. Appointment availability varies throughout the semester. Navigate only accommodates bookings one week into the future. Check Navigate to see availability for the current week.
Prior to scheduling an appointment via Navigate, please see the following instructions if you are a new Isenberg student.
Students new to UMass Amherst
Prior to meeting with an academic advisor, incoming first-year and transfer students need to register for New Student Orientation and Transitions (NSOT). After completing the Guide to the U and placement exams, an advisor will email your UMass email account to coordinate your advising appointment. Please do not schedule an advising appointment prior to receiving this email.
Students recently admitted to an Isenberg major from another major on campus
Please refer to your admittance letter email for further directions for specific advising assistance for new admits.
Walk-in Advising Hours:quick 15-minute conversations with advisors for time-sensitive questions on a first-come, first-served basis during the academic year. Walk-ins are in person in room N230. You must be checked in at least 15 minutes prior to the walk-in hours end time.
Students are automatically assigned an “Enrollment Appointment” on SPIRE. This is the earliest day and time students are able to enroll for that semester. In the SPIRE Menu, go to Enrollment > Enrollment Appointment. The Enrollment Dates page for the current term will open.
Make sure all holds are cleared
If you have a hold on your record/account in SPIRE, this could prevent registration. To view a hold, log into SPIRE, look on the right side of the screen on your Student Services Center page under "Holds".
Review your remaining requirements in your Academic Requirements Report (ARR)
Click the down arrow on the “other academic...” drop-down list to the left of your Class Schedule on the Student Center in SPIRE. Click on ARR NoShopping Cart, then hit the arrows.
Once you know which courses you need, search for them in SPIRE to add to your Enrollment Shopping Cart. It is a good idea to add several back up courses to your shopping cart in case your first-choice options become full.
Once your “Enrollment Appointment” time begins, log into SPIRE and click back into your shopping cart. Select the open courses you want to enroll in from your list and hit enroll! You can continue to make changes to your schedule until the add/drop period ends.

Spring 2021 Sessions:
Business Data Analytics Certificate
Are you thinking about pursuing our business data analytics certificate? Attend this session to learn more about course planning within the certificate and how it can fit into your schedule. Double dipping explanation and options will be reviewed!
With fall 2021 registration starting next month, now is a good time to start planning your upcoming semester schedule. As a rising sophomore, there are certain Isenberg classes we recommend you look into. This webinar will explain which of these would be beneficial for your major, as well as other class options if you are unable to get into all of your first-choice classes.
Did you just change your major into Isenberg or transfer from another school entirely? Then this webinar is for you. Isenberg academic advisors will review various information to help accommodate the transition to your new academic home. The main points we will review include: different majors and degree options, recommended timelines for classes, how your ARR and curriculum plans relate, transfer credit evaluation, and more.
Do you want to study abroad? Want to learn how to get the process started? When to go? What classes to take (or NOT take) abroad? How grades and credits transfer back to UMass? How to stay on track with graduation requirements while abroad? If so, this info session is for you! We’ll cover the most FAQs for Isenberg students!
Remember: it is never too early to start planning. First year students are encouraged to attend!
Note: it’s helpful to view IPO’s Essentials meeting prior to this session, though it’s not required to attend.
Note: These are meant to be quick appointments for students in the advanced stages of their abroad planning. If you need a more in-depth discussion with an Isenberg academic advisor, please contact the Undergraduate Advising Office in N230.
